BEATITUDES OF SERVING
Be open to how God wants YOU to serve!
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (vs. 3)
1. Senior Citizen Homes and Convalescent Hospitals- are in desperate need of visitors. Go alone or take your small group!
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted (vs. 4)
1. The holidays can be especially lonely for those who have lost a loved one and sometimes stressful for those who have multiple families. Be God’s arms of compassion.
Blessed are the meek for they will inherit the earth (vs. 5)
1. Operation Shoebox- This is an outreach of Samaritans Purse, an organization started by Franklin Graham. Last year they distributed over 7.6 million shoeboxes packed with small toys and hygiene items to children in poverty in 95 countries. You can pack a shoebox or help out at their distribution center. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled (vs. 6)
1. Lifeline and Pomona-Make a donation to Lifeline (New Hope’s Food bank) or help package food and distribute it to the needy in Chino, Ontario or Pomona. Contact Cheryl Stone or Dick Mc Donald for more details
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy (vs. 7)
1. Mexico Mission Trip. Come join New Hope as we show mercy and compassion to people in Tijuana. This trip we will be building a classroom so that sixty 7th and 8th graders can begin attending school.
Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God (vs 8)
1. Threads of Hope. Threads of Hope is an outstanding organization which collects new clothes for kids who live in Chino and have nothing to wear to school. If you love kids and shopping this might be for you. For more information see Jeanetta Altenburg.
Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called sons of God (vs 9)
1. Invite a Marine for Thanksgiving! The YMCA is looking for families who are willing to share a meal, TV, internet and free cell phone minutes! They have over 2000 Marines who are away from home and serving our country at Camp Pendleton. These courageous men and women allow us to live in a peaceful country!
